We live in this real world, as we all know, every person is a moralexistence. However, there is a doubt that why does people has moral nature? And why are they moral actually? And what is the foundation of morality onearth? The question about foundation of morality is always a significant theme inthe field of philosophy, and it usually has a deep relation with altruism. Butexplorations to altruism exist in different thinkers’ theories by all kinds of style,so it is good to us to understand the foundation of morality by analyzing thetheories about the possibility of altruism.foundation of morality is a core in this article, and then explore thosetheories which set up itself on the altruistic basis. Here, they can be dividedinto two approaches: one is an objective way; another is an emotion way. This article can be divided into four chapters:The first chapter summarizes the background of the foundation of morality. This chapter will talk about the background in two angles: First o all, explainthe foundation for moral motivation debates, that is, debates between egoismand altruism in a long time; the second is to explain the debate of moralfoundation in academic branches, for example, discuss the debates betweenegoism and altruism from philosophy, ethics, biology and so on.The second chapter introduces the first altruistic approach of moralfoundation-from Kant and Nagel. At first, show the sum of question about thisapproach, and then introduce Kant’s moral law which transcends egoism andaltruism, and Nagel’s possibility of altruism. The third chapter introduces the second altruistic approach offoundation-from Hume and Batson. Firstly, summarize the question about thisapproach, and then elaborate Hume emotion route which is based on empathy, and Batson’s “empathy-altruism”.The forth chapter will compare the two approaches, and attempt to find outtheir deficiency.
