Shaanxi is one of the birthplaces of Chinese civilization and has always been a calligrapher's family.In modern Shaanxi literature,there are four calligraphers who are commonly known as “four masters” in Chang'an,the “four masters” refers to Liu Zidu,Wei Junxiu,Chen Zeqin,and Qiu Xing.Qiu Xing was born in 1914.He loved calligraphy from an early age,beginning study the Yan Qinli Tablet,Zheng Wengong Tablet.In his twenties or so began to learn the Yi Shan Tablet,Under the influence of Wu Dacheng specializes in studying the Bronze Inscriptions and rubbing inscription in Xuan paper.Qiu Xing's calligraphy absorbs the traditional calligraphy features,but did not completely copied it.His calligraphy is a combination of tradition and innovation.Not only that,he is excellent in poetry and seal cutting.This article is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction part.The second chapter mainly studies QiuXing's family background and the background of studing calligraphy in different periods.The third chapter mainly studies Qiu Xing's calligraphy through from five perspectives: aesthetics,techniques,inheritance theory,personality theory and sentiment theory.The fourth chapter explains his practical significance by studying his calligraphy thoughts.QiuXing's calligraphy theories are not only rooted in traditional calligraphy theory but also innovation.The following two aspects can explain it: On the one hand Qiu Xing has accumulated decades of traditional culture,Which laid the foundation for his calligraphy creation and research.On the other hand theory comes from practice.Qiu Xing studied calligraphy since childhood,and has rich experience in calligraphy creation.Therefore,Qiu Xing's calligraphic thoughts comes from his depth inheritance of traditional calligraphy and his summary of the experience of calligraphy practice.
