Artistic Features And Value Of Metafiction

"Meta-fiction" is a specialized term in Western post-modern literature.The authors have different interpretations and explanations in their use due to their different perspectives.They also bring confusion in the use of meta-fiction concepts,making metafiction and meta-fiction.Narratives are difficult to distinguish.If we say that "meta-fiction" expresses a kind of fictional narrative style,it expresses the meaning of "fiction about fiction".It refers to the fiction's own connotation and significance.Therefore,the characteristics of "meta-fiction" exhibited by traditional novels are obviously different from the meta-fictions exhibited by postmodern fiction.The "meta-fiction" nature of traditional novels is more manifested in the form of discourse,and the "meta-fiction" nature in post-modern novels has implications on the meaning of novel value.Further,the post-modern "meta-fiction" also pays attention to the law of the novel itself,which involves three aspects: the narrative form,the story content,and the value significance of the novel.Therefore,metafiction in the real sense is one of the postmodern novels.Postmodern metafiction has three aspects of meta-characteristics,namely the narrative metanarrative,the story-level meta-story,and the functional value of the meta-value.Traditional novels can have a meta-narrative form,modernist novels can have a meta-story form,but only the post-modern meta-fiction has a meta-valued feature,which leads to people's reflection on the functional value of the novel and even literature itself,and shows a clear self-subversion.Self-destructive.Moreover,it is only in the text of post-modern metafiction that the unity of metanarrative,meta-story,and meta-value can be achieved.That is,meta-fiction pursues the realization of unique meta-value through the narrative form of meta narrative and meta-story.
