The Han Dynasty is the key stage of the gradual perfection of the feudal system,and it is also an important historical period of Chinese character evolution and calligraphy development.At this time,many styles of calligraphy coexisted and influenced each other,the ancient writing had gradually come to an end,the new type of writing was becoming more and more mature,and calligraphy art was gradually moving towards the path of conscious development.In the system of small seal script,the seal script of the Han Dynasty has special status.On the one hand,the seal script of the Han Dynasty has been extended and developed to provide important reference for posterity to know the true face of the seal script in the Qin Dynasty.On the other hand,the seal script of the Han Dynasty is also influenced by the ancient texts and the new characters in the Warring States Period.The writing method is more abundant,the style is more varied,and the artistry is highlighted.The Han Dynasty is not only the declining period of small seal script,but also the new stage of its development.The seal character stone inscription can represent the artistic characteristics and artistic achievements the seal script in the Han Dynasty.There are many types of seal character stone inscription in the Han Dynasty.There are four types of inscription:the inscription of seal script,the long inscription on the building,the inscription of seal script,and the marked character.The first three types can best reflect the unique style of the seal script in the Han Dynasty.Carved stone seal character and ink,bronze inscription,seals,brick,eaves tiles and other types of the seal character in the Han Dynasty have a close contact.Through the comparative study,we can get more comprehensive and profound understanding of the writing methods and artistic styles of the seal script in the Han Dynasty.There are two main styles of stone seal characters in Han Dynasty.Its first style is similar to that of the Qin Dynasty.In its second style,the stroke is similar to the seal script,and the shape is similar to the official script.The common feature of these two styles is that the strokes and shapes are more abundant,and they are decorative,showing a strong artistic expression.The unique artistic style of seal characters in the Han Dynasty is closely related to the romantic aesthetic pursuit and heroic spirit of the Han Dynasty.The seal character stone inscription and other kinds of seal script in the Han Dynasty made the style of seal script more rich,which also influenced the later seal script.First of all,the decorativeness of seal character in the Han Dynasty is emphasized by posterity.There is a close relationship between the seal character in the Han Dynasty and it in tne Wei,Jin,Northern and Southern Dynasties and the tang dynasty.Secondly,under the influence of the retro atmosphere,some calligraphers in the Yuan Dynasty began to pay attention to and learn from the seal script in the Han Dynasty.From the beginning of the literati seal carving in the Yuan Dynasty,seal engravers had paid attention to the seal character and the seal in the Han Dynasty.Thirdly,the seal script in the Han Dynasty played an important role in the revival of the seal script in the Qing Dynasty,and it was also an important resource for the seal engraving in the late Qing Dynasty.Finally,the various artistic styles of the seal script in the Han Dynasty can also provide important reference and inspiration for today's seal script writing and calligraphy education.The research object of this paper is the seal character stone inscription in the Han Dynasty and the Xinmang Period.The author will study the seal character stone inscription in the Han dynasty from the perspective of calligraphy art,to explore its style and technique and elucidate its status,value,artistic spirit and its significance for today's calligraphy creation,thus produce benefits to artistic creation and theoretical research.
