A Study On The Decorative Change And Artistic Value Of Seal Script Epitaph

The epitaph is an important part of ancient Chinese funeral etiquette culture.Because of its important ethical significance,the inscription on the cover of the epitaph not only indicates the identity of the tomb owner,but also reflects the sense of mystery and solemnity.Therefore,the inscription on the cover of the epitaph has special requirements for the decoration.The shape of epitaph was established from the Northern Wei Dynasty,and the epitaph cover appeared at the same time.The development process of the epitaph of the epitaph cover continued from the Northern Wei Dynasty to the Republic of China.There are seal script,official script,regular script,running script and so on in the inscriptions of epitaph cover.The most important part is seal script inscriptions.Because of the dual value of practicability and decoration,seal script art coincides with the aesthetic pursuit of the ritual device of epitaph.Therefore,this paper chooses the angle of seal script inscriptions to study the body changes of the decorative epitaph cover,and analyzes its art and decorative value Social and cultural value,and thus leads to the inspiration of modern font design.The first chapter describes the background,significance,current situation,ideas and methods of the article.The second chapter mainly introduces the development of epitaph form,the concept of inscription,the type of inscription and other related issues.The third chapter is the core chapter of this paper,which divides the evolution process of epitaph seal script inscriptions into four stages: the Northern Dynasty Sui to the early Tang Dynasty,the prosperous middle and later Tang,song,yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasties.It analyzes the social background of each stage and the style of seal script inscriptions,and summarizes the whole evolution process in the last section.The fourth chapter is the analysis of the aesthetic characteristics of the inscription decoration of the seal script of the epitaph cover,from the beauty of the craft decoration--the decorative beauty of the hand engraver,the sun engraver,the Yin engraver,the line engraver,to the symbolic decorative beauty--the focused layout of the pattern,the four gods pattern,the twelve zodiac patterns,and finally to the beauty of the pattern decoration--the pen and brush decoration,the rhythm of the use of the pen,and the arrangement of the rules,so as to make a more comprehensive analysis of the epitaph cover Artistic analysis of seal inscription.The fifth chapter is the innovative chapter of this paper.It studies the inheritance status of the art category of epitaph in the traditional decorative text,which leads to the analysis of the social and cultural value,artistic value and inspiration for modern font design of the sixth chapter.Through the analysis and summary of the whole article,we can intuitively understand the evolution process and artistic characteristics of the epitaph cover seal script inscription.It not only has a great impact on the decorative nature of seal script calligraphy art,but also has a more important significance on the deep embodiment of the historical and cultural verification behind,so as to better provide new ideas for modern design.
