From Classic To Modern

As an important art historian in the 20th century,Arnold Hauser has a pioneering role in the development of Social History of Art.He constructed a complete and rich research method of social history of art,which profoundly affected the development of art history.However,his contributions have been shelved by the historians of mainstream art for a long time.There are many reasons,in addition to the ideological debate and differences in methodology,the theoretical framework of Hauser itself has many defects,but this does not affect his status which as a pioneer in the field of art history.Since the 20th century,especially after the World War?,a group of art historians are turning to the influential factors of the artists and art works,and the study of social relations,in the hope of change the art history on another level.Arnold Hauser is an important part of them.This paper aims to systematically review his academic viewpoints and research methods from the important works of Arnold Hauser.Through the evaluation of the art historians and his responses and corrections to these evaluations,try to restore the significance of Hauser's research on social history of art and reflection on contemporary art research.
