Aquinas as a master of medieval scholasticism, integrated his ideas with the achievements of Greek philosophy,Arabic philosophy and used Aristotle's philosophical thinking to interpret and explain Christian theological issues, create a large scholastic philosophy and theology system. In the doctrine of will,it also has this kind of integration, and it shows a tendency of intellectualism. This article will analyze the relevant content of the first part of Aquinas' Summa Theologica to explore this intellectualism tendency and evaluate the doctrine of the will and the tendency it presents.Specifically speaking, this article studies the intellectualism tendency of the Aquinas' will doctrine from five chapters. The first chapter mainly elaborates the achievements and characteristics of the Aquinas' will doctrine at home and abroad, and excavates the starting point and characteristics of this artic;e.The second chapter mainly discusses the Bible,Augustine, the theory of "separation" and Aristotle's influence on Aquinas, and analyzes the theoretical fulcrum of Aquinas' will doctrine. The third chapter explores the main contents of the doctrine of will.In this part,it mainly explores the will as appetitus intellectivus, and its relationship with reason is a kind of relationship that has both interaction and mutual containment, but there is fact that reason will be absolutely higher than will, and will will be relatively higher than reason.Aquinas' will includes the will of God,the will of angels, and the will of men.The will of God is the same as intellect of God,and the will of angels and human beings as the creatures of intellect are not the same as their intellect.the objects of will, goodness is what all desire. It is a good in the universal sense. It can include existence, truth, knowledge, life, etc.Absolutely intellect is prior to the will, while sometimes intellect can understand things that the will desire, and the will can also desire what can be understood by intellect. The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the ideological characteristics of the doctrine and the intellectualism tendency it presents. The will has to be realized with intellectual understanding, namely, the will is based on knowledge.Aquinas, doctrine not only reconciles the views of the voluntarism and intellectualism, but also integrates the relationship between faith and reason.Despite this kind of integration and reconciliation, but there is still a tendency of intellectualism in the doctrine of will. The fifth chapter mainly expounds the significance of the doctrine and the influence of the intellectualism tendency.
