Grammar is the basis of language and the law of wording and phrasing,while grammar teaching is always the key and difficult point in junior high school English teaching.Textbooks,as both teachers' teaching and students' learning tools and resources.The current English textbooks English(Yilin Edition for junior high school)for junior high school were edited in cooperation by China and Britain,mainly serving the students in junior high school of China.This paper summarizes the results of at home and abroad English grammar researches and high school English grammar teaching studies,analyzes the characteristics and requirement of grammar teaching in the English(Yilin Edition for junior high school),with the questionnaire surveys and the grammar tests in Grade Nine of two junior high schools in Yongcheng,Henan Province,So three research questions are put forward:(1)What is the current situation of English grammar teaching in the English(Yilin Edition for junior high school)?(2)What problems did teachers and students face in implementing grammar teaching and grammar acquisition for this textbook?(3)What are effective measures for these problems of English grammar teaching in junior high schools?Through analyses the collected data,the findings of this study indicate:(1)Most English teachers and students in junior high schools still regard grammar as the basic element of teaching and learning English,and they also agree with the compiling system of English(Yilin Edition for junior high school).(2)The arrangement of grammar points in the textbook and the single grammar teaching method result in the ineffectiveness of the grammar teaching.(3)Teachers should understand the aims of grammar teaching and improve their own teaching abilities,give full play to their leading roles;integrating and optimizing English textbooks and adopting various teaching forms to stimulate students' grammar acquisition.
