Silent Spring is the best-seller of American marine biologist Rachel Carson's works, which is produced in 1962.Because it is the first book which unreservedly discloses the various disadvantages of the pesticide abuse in America,Silent Spring arises a great sensation in American society. At that time, environment becomes the focus of people's attention, and American environmental movement blooms greatly under the effect of Silent Spring, thus Rachel Carson is called“the mother of environment movement".Since entering China in the 1970s,Silent Spring has gone through more than forty years.During this period, there exists obvious phase characters of the Chinese readers ' acceptance to Silent Spring. Thus, this thesis divides the acceptance of Chinese readers into three phases, and it discusses the reasons why there appears different receptions in the three phases. The first phase is the period during 1972 to 1979,in this time it has gone through the start of the translation to the first Chinese version completed. The second phase is from 1980 to 1997,and during this time it has gone through the first version to the reversion of the Chinese translation. The third phase is from 1998 to 2016,after the reversion of the Chinese translation, the receptions of Silent Spring gets into the prosperous period.Silent Spring has had a great influence on Chinese eco-literature and environmental protection.Chinese academic study on Silent Spring increasingly grows especially after the theory of ecocriticism comes into China, thus the angle of ecocriticism to study Silent Spring becomes an important aspect of ecology research. However, there are almost no studies on this work from the perspective of readers'receptions. The receptions, dissemination and fortune of a country's work in other countries are significant factors of comparative literature, which are related to the background of the recipient country. The receptions of a country's literary works in other countries is different from its producing country, and the recipient countries also show different receptions in different times. This thesis sets the receptions of Silent Spring in China as the research goal, takes the aesthetics as the theoretical support and considers the receptions of time as the research clues.By collecting the various research data, this paper analyzes the internal factors that cause the different receptions and points out how Silent Spring effects upon the ecological writing of Chinese literature after it comes to China. What' s more,it points out that in today's ecocriticism,Chinese readers have the lack of study on this eco-biblical book, and it also indicates what is the real significance in today's reread Silent Spring.
