With the proposal of "the Belt and Road",a great national strategic conception,Chinese has been promoted to a new level in the world.And the standardized tests of the ability of Chinese as a foreign language has also developed.Both the New HSK in mainland China and the TOCFL in Taiwan are currently more formal foreign language(Chinese)proficiency tests.Taking the official materials and sample test questions of the two kinds of tests as the research subjects,the author contrasts and analyzes the designs of the reading part of the two tests from different angles,which is in order to explore the different ideas of the design of second language test questions in Taiwan and mainland China.The paper shared five chapters to observe and analyze the foreign language(Chinese)proficiency test in Taiwan and mainland China from multiple perspectives.And the chapters are arranged as follows: The first chapter is the introduction that mainly clarifies research object of the paper,discusses the previous research findings as well as the research significance and method of the paper.The second chapter lists all the questions in the reading part of the New HSK and TOCFL sample volumes.In the third chapter,the paper combs and analyzed the New HSK and TOCFL sample volume reading questions,summarizes and induces them.The fourth chapter compares the test questions in the volume from different angles and describes their difference.And the fifth chapter draws the conclusion of the contrast of the test questions,and puts forward some reasonable suggestions for the improvement of language test and reading teaching in the future.The purpose of the author's comparative analysis of these two language tests is not to compare who is the best.As a matter of fact,the study found that the reading parts of the two language tests have different merits and drawbacks in terms of topic setting,test contents selection and language materials selection.We hope that the present study can provide some valuable advice for the examinees to review and prepare for the examinations,the development and improvement of the future Chinese proficiency tests and the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,especially the reading teaching.
