This thesis aims to explore if using games in primary English class are useful for pupils.Research approaches of literature survey has been used to collect and explore on documents related to the topic of this research.Making use of questionnaire survey and experiment to see the change of students' test score and their attitude towards English learning.Based on collecting and analyzing the data available to draw an conclusion about whether games are effective in English learning for pupils.And we can see students in both experimental class and controlled class are in the same level as to English ability and attitude towards English learning,while after this period of experimentation,students in experimental class performs better in English test and have an improved attitude on English learning.They have a better understanding of English learning,be more proactive in English class and possess a justified viewpoint towards the role of teachers in English teaching.And there comes the conclusion through analyzing the test scores and the data of questionnaire before and after the experiment:(1)It is useful for teachers to use games as a teaching method in primary English class.(2)Using games in primary English class can make students have a more positive attitude towards English learning.(3)Using games in primary English class is conducive to improving students' test scores.The last,I want to propose some advice on how to use games in teaching effectively:teachers should make sure games are accessible to all the students;teachers need to control the time spent on games and ensure the teaching quality;teachers can use many different methods to make English learning more interesting;teachers shall make a clear and exact order;teachers need to comment timely on students performance.
