This essay based on the eight learning strategies of Chinese characters commonly used by foreign students,such as semantic strategies,stroke strategies,glyph strategies,review strategies,induction strategies,application strategies,metacognitive strategies and memory strategies,using questionnaires and test of Chinese characters investigates 37 Central Asian students in middle and advanced level in Shanghai International Studies University to explore the use of Chinese learning strategies at different stages and the specific analysis,as well as the correlation between Chinese learning strategies and the ability of Chinese characters.SPSS 13 software was used to make descriptive statistics and correlation analysis of the data obtained from the questionnaire survey,and the survey results were supplemented by the observation of the students and semistructured interviews with some of the subjects.The results show that:(1)The most commonly used strategies of foreign students in middle level is the applied strategies,and then are semantic strategies?memory strategies?stroke strategies?glyph strategies?review strategies and metacognitive strategies.The least is the induction strategy.(2)The most commonly used strategies of foreign students in the advanced stage is the semantic strategies,and then are the glyph strategies?applied strategies?review strategies?stroke strategies?metacognitive strategies and memory strategies,the least used strategies is also the induction strategy.(3)The application strategy,semantic strategy,induction strategy and memory strategy have a significant impact on the ability of Chinese characters.From the two perspectives of Chinese teaching mode and Chinese teaching content and method,this paper puts forward the enlightenment to Chinese teaching and points out how our teachers should guide students to use correct and effective learning strategies to seek more idealized Chinese teaching methods and establish the best teaching mode of Chinese characters to improve their enthusiasm for learning Chinese.Learning efficiency.
