This thesis is oriented on study of opera performance theory.The object of study is “Sichuan Opera face”.This paper based on literature review,doing a exploration of face-changing art,by making the research on the development history and method types of face-changing art,the connotation and function of the Sichuan opera face can be summarized,the relationship between the face-changing and the dramatic characteristics of Sichuan opera is also be explored.At the same time,this paper takes Chengdu as an example,makes some relevant interviews and market research on the inheritance ways and market status of face-changing.To start with three issues of performance venues,performance groups,and actors’ income in the current facechanging market,this paper analyzes the problems existing in the face-changing market and proposes solutions to the problems.The conclusion of this thesis is that the formation and use regularity of facechanging has a close relationship with facial makeup and the role of Sichuan opera.The face-changing has dual attributes.On the one hand,it is a means of performance.On the other hand,it is a ideal modeling means.The creative law of face-changing must meet the artistic rules of excel in innovation in Sichuan Opera.Its artistic connotation and function reflect the features of Sichuan Opera,is also a manifestation of the cultural and folk customs of the land of Ba and Shu.The unconformity of the inheritance methods leads to irregularities in the face-changing market performance groups and performance venues.To solve the current status of the face-changing market,we must standardize the inheritance methods and the scale of performance.The innovation of this thesis lies in adopting a combination of literature surveys and field surveys to divide the face-changing into two categories,traditional and modern,and analyzes the two different types of face-changing methods and artistic connotations in detail.On this basis,the cultural inheritance,historical inheritance and current status of the face-changing of Sichuan Opera are discussed.
