A Study On The Discourse Marker “Shuozhende”

The study of discourse markers in China has a short history,and less research is conducted on the combination of Chinese characteristics.The study is done by selecting “shuozhende” in the discourse markers which is used frequently.With the help of BCC,CCL corpus of Peking University,Beijing language and culture university corpus HSK dynamic composition corpus,interlanguage corpus and discourse markers,jinan university,the theory of discourse analysis,using the theory of combining with the facts,comparative research method,the study expects to make a more detailed description and explanation for the discourse marker “shuozhende”.This study is divided into five parts:The first part is introduction,which mainly combines existing researches on the relevant aspects of discourse markers so that focus of this research and corresponding research plan could be determined;The second part,which is about other scholars who definite discourse markers,determines the definition of discourse markers of the study,that is,discourse markers,which refers to the words or discourse represented by a single word,phrase or clause,as the means of discourse connection,don't act as a syntactic component and does not increase the semantic content words but show the speaker's attitude toward a proposition and guide the hearer to understand the words.And then on the basis of the above criteria,"shuozhende" under what circumstances can be judged as discourse marker.With the aid of the four corpus,"shuozhende" as a discourse marker is analyzed the meaning of using frequency which is compared with the basic meaning of it and it shows the expression of "shuozhende" in our habits could be mainly seen as a discourse marker;The third part analyzes the distribution characteristics of the discourse marker “shuozhende”.It can be at the beginning of a sentence,at the center of a sentence and at the end of a sentence.There are two use modes in the compound sentence: the preposition: shuozhende +X,the middle type: X+ shuozhende +X;There are three types of usage patterns in the sentence group: the preposition: shuozhende +X,the middle type: X+ shuozhende +X,postscript: X+ shuozhende;The fourth part discusses the pragmatic function of the discourse marker “shuozhende”.The study found that "shuozhende" as a kind of "expressive information marker",has rich pragmatic functions,which can be used as a shortage of information in words or discourse marker,information correct markup language,information supplement markup language,transformationof topic marker and subjective evaluation marker and end tag marker.On the basis of the above two parts,it concluded the context and the corresponding relationship between form and function of the discourse marker “shuozhende”;The fifth part explores the cause of the formation of the discourse marker “shuozhende”.The research shows that the "serious" discourse markers are formed by internal and external causes.
