A Practice Report On C-E Translation Of Proposal For The Project Of Raising World Bank Loan For The Sustainable Development Of Agriculture

With the rapid development of world economy,the cooperation and exchanges in every field between China and other countries have been gradually strengthened.Therefore,there is a growing demand for translation work,especially for the translation of official documents,which play an increasingly prominent role in the economic development.The original Chinese text(Proposal for the Project of Raising World Bank Loan for the Sustainable Development of Agriculture)is issued by the County Agriculture Comprehensive Development Office,which is used to apply for the loan from the World Bank.After having finished the translation work of this government document,the author wrote the translation report of this practice and analyzed some specific issues of the translation.Under the guidance of Reiss’ Text Typology,the author practices this translation for the purpose of the accuracy of the information transfer.During the translation,the words and sentences have been studied at all times.In order to achieve the goal of the translation,several translation methods are adopted,such as conversion of part of speech,word adding,word omission,substitution,restructuring and voice conversion etc.This translation report is composed of five parts.The first part is a brief introduction to the background information.The second part is the presentment of the translation task,including the analysis of linguistic features for the original text,the requirements of translation task and the significance of the translation practice.The third part is the description of the translation process,which mainly introduces the specific situation of the implementation of the various stages of translation,including the preparation before the translation,the quality control in translation and the post-translation evaluation.The fourth part is case analysis.Under the guidance of Reiss’ Text Typology,the author introduces some difficulties in the translation and recommends some corresponding translation methods to solve these problems through typical case analyses at the lexical and syntactic levels.As the report reveals,with the high political sensitivity and responsibility,the translator should analyze the language and text characteristics carefully,pay attention to the accuracy and logicality of the target language in the translation of political documents.Through this translation practice,the author has not only deepened her understanding of the linguistic features of political documents,but gained some practical experience for translation of similar types of documents.The author also hopes that this translation practice can give some inspirations for other translators who cope with the same text type.
