| With the acceleration of globalization,the frequency of international trade and cooperation is keeping increasing,and business competitions among enterprises are much fiercer.Now more than ever,companies choose to invite bids when they are looking for partners.According to international practice,all documents related to tendering activities,including bidding documents,shall be prepared in English when project cooperation,sales and services are conducted through tendering.Even if preparation in a language other than English is permitted,an English translation must be included,and in the event of disagreement,the English version shall prevail.The report is based on the translation practice of this Request for Proposal for Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP)System.A Request for Proposal(RFP)is an informative text whose core purpose is to convey information and analyze the translation strategies.The RFP does convey the information clearly,definitely and logically.The lexical part of this RFP is characterized by specialization of common words,polysemy and the use of many modal verbs and abbreviations.To address corresponding problems,the author adopts translation methods such as literal translation and zero translation,and analyzes the translation rules of modal verbs according to the classification of modal values from high to low.The syntactic part of the RFP is characterized by participle structures,infinitive structures,passive voice,etc.,which are mainly solved with translation skills like linear translation,hysteron-proteron and shift.Thus,this report mainly studies the lexical and syntactic characteristics of the RFP,and makes analysis based on translation practice,hoping to be a reference for other translators. |
