The Influence Of Implementation Intentions And The Frustration Situation To The Feeling Of Agency

In the recent 20 years,Sense of Agency has gradually attracted researchers ' attention,the number of relevant documents and quotations has continuously increased.As for the studies of Psychology,these researches relevant to Sense of Agency mainly focus on the theory construction,influencing factors as well as its effects.The effects of frustration situation on Sense of Agency are studied in this thesis,besides,the concepts whether Sense of Agency of frustration situation can be increased by pre-ensuring implementation intentions are also discussed.The previous researches for the frustration situation were mainly limited in the independent scene,therefore,this paper furthers to explore the effects competing frustration situation as well as the cooperating frustration situation.The purpose of this study:The effects of different frustration situation on Sense of Agency are explored;(2)The effects of complementation purpose on Sense of Agency are explored;(3)Whether pre-ensuring continuous experiments ' purposes can significantly change the Sense of Agency under the frustration situation is explored.Methods:The experiment is 2(implementation intentions)× 2(frustration or none)×3(frustration situation).240 college students are hired to participate in the tests and they are divided into 12 groups.The experiments all take place in the independent and silent Psychological Counseling Room and the experiment procedures are strictly followed.The tasks of self adopted frustration situation are used and the Matrix Reasoning Test of Wechsler Intelligence Test is used to stimulate the frustration materials,to create the frustration situation.By enquiring whether they are willing to carry on the secondexperiment after ending the first test to ensure the implementing intention as well as the subjective judging models of Humphreys in Sense of Agency.There are 3 experiments,1 preliminary experiment and 2 formal experiments.Whether the 20% accuracy of frustration tasks can effectively stimulate the frustration feelings is taken as the frustration situation for formal experiments.And the feelings are tested before or after the tests by the means of Positive and Negative Mood Scale.The results show that positive emotions decreased significantly,and negative emotions increased significantly,which indicates that the frustration tasks can effectively arouse the frustration feelings.The frustration situation of preparation experiment is adopted in the experiment 1,the changes of Sense of Agency under the independent scene as well as the problem whether implementing intention can increase Sense of Agency under the frustration situation are discussed.Three stages are included in the experiment,the first stage is to pre-test the positive&negative moods,the second stage is to determine the implementing intention,carry out the frustration tasks and test the Sense of Agency,the third stage is to later test the positive&negative moods.The experiment structure of 2 is the same as the one in experiment 1.But the difference lies in that the frustration tasks can be finished by cooperating with others in experiment 2,which furthers to explore the changes of the Sense of Agency with competing frustration,cooperating frustration and independent frustration.The results are as follows:(1)The Sense of Agency with implementing intention is significantly less than that without implementing intention.But in the later selection of whether continuing experiment,the faster they choose,the shorter their reaction time is and they have more willing to attend the later experiments.(2)The Sense of Agency of control group with frustration scene is significantly less than the group without frustration situation.But in the later selection of whether continuing experiment,the faster they choose,the shorter their reaction time is.(3)There are no interacting functions for the Sense of Agency and reaction time on the condition of implementing intention and frustration situation.(4)In the analysis for different groups in frustration situation,it is founded that tested Sense of Agency >independent frustration situation>the Sense of Agency under the competing frustration situation.Among them,the Sense of Agency is the highest under the competing frustration condition without purpose;Whether in the situation with/without implementing intention or frustration,the reaction time of independent frustration islonger.The frustration situation significantly decreases Sense of Agency,the cooperating frustration Sense of Agency,decreases the least and the competing frustration decreases the most.These results show that others different participating modes have different effects.The frustration feeling produced by competing makes the Sense of Agency lower but make the willing for the next test stronger;the pre-determined implementing intention decreases the Sense of Agency,the reason may be the involvement of cognition,which decreases the Sense of Agency and increases the willing to take part in the next test.
