The world renowned Norwegian Nationalism composer,Edvard Hagerup Grieg(1843-1907),wrote his first Sonata for Violin and Piano in F Major in the summer of 1865,where he spent his vocation in Rungsted,near Copenhagen,in Denmark.The gorgeous Danish scenery impressed him a lot and arouse the desire of thinking of the beautiful landscapes of his motherland-Norway in the meantime.Edvard Grieg wrote three violin sonatas,they are all examples of his musical nationalism,since they are all contain references or similarities to Norwegian folk song,which I think it is of great significance to study the feature of his nationalism of doing music texture and performance researches of this sonata to reveal the great artistic value.There are three chapters in total in this thesis.First chapter including Grieg's biography,major works,the background of this piece,and a brief description of his nationalism.Second chapter contains the specific musical texture analysis of three movements in different dimensions to analyze Grieg's unique music style.And the last chapter analyze the performance of main theme phrases and tough periods of each movement,taking author's personal performance experience of dynamics and music expressions as a point of penetration.Discussing the bow distribution and vibrato technique and methods to coordinate two hands,which is necessary to understand the performance style of this violin sonata.It is crucial to comprehend the north European nationalism music of 19~thh century.
