| BackgroundSense of self-efficacy refers to the psychological expectation of an individual to accomplish a certain task.Social support means that the individual is given the help of the spirit and materials by the family,friends.With the development of economics,All kindsof new social problems continue to emerge.As the special social groups,medical college students whose length of schooling is short,especially their Learning Pressure,Entrance Pressure and Employment Pressure are heavier.The overall mental health is worrying,which seriously affects the physical and mental health and academic achievement of Medical College Students.Therefore,it is of importance theoretical and practical significance to explore the relationship between self-efficacy,social support and the mental health of Medical College Students.Objectives1.Objective to explore the status quo of self-efficacy,social support and mental health of Medical College Students,in order to obtain the theoretical research basis of self-efficacy and social support.2.To explore the relationship between self-efficacy,social support and mental health,and to analyze the mechanism of self-efficacy and social support on mental Health,so as to provide theoretical evidence for improving mental health level of Medical Students.MethodsStratified random sampling was adopted:The subjects were classified by grades,and then each class randomly selected 10 students according to their different majors.During the time from May 23,2017 to July 26,2017,a total of 500 medical students of a Medical University in Shangqiu were surveyed.Finally,488 questionnaires were collected and the recovery rate was 97.6%.The detailed arrangement of survey data deleted the answer time less than 400 seconds of the questionnaires and the whole questionnaires showed the regular answer,and at last,414 valid questionnaires were retained,with an effective rate of 82.8%.The relationship between self-efficacy,social support and mental health was explored by using basic information questionnaire,social support rating scale for college students,general self-efficacy scale(GSES),symptom checklist 90(SCL-90).The mechanism of self-efficacy and social support was also analyzed.For the collected data,the EXCEL original database was established,and the statistical software SPSS 13.0 was imported into statistical analysis,and the equation structure model was established with AMOS 21.0.Statistical methods include descriptive statistics,independent sample t test,variance analysis,Pearson correlation analysis,multivariate linear regression analysis,latent variable structural equation model and so on.Results1.The somatization and interpersonal sensitivity of medical college students was significantly lower than that of the national norms,and compulsion,fear and psychosis were significantly higher than those of the national norm.There was no significant difference in depression,anxiety,hostility,paranoid and total score.2.The total score of GSES of male students was significantly higher than that of female students(t= 5.108,P<0.001)while there were no significant differences between male and female students(t=-0.949,P>0.05).There was significant difference in total score of SCL-90 between male and female students(t＝ 1.244,P>0.05).3.There was no significant difference in the total score of self-efficacy among different grade students(F = 0.240,P>0.05);and there was also no significant difference in the total score of mental health among them(F= 0.821,P>0.05);However,there were significant differences in social support among them(F = 6.621,P<0.05).Afterwards,the 2-2 comparison(LSD method based on homogeneity of variance)showed that the total score of social support of grade one students was significantly higher than that of grade two,and there was no significant difference in social support scores between grade one and grade three.The total score of social support of grade two students was significantly lower than that of grade three.4.There was no significant difference in social support among students from cities,counties and towns(F = 0.564,P>0.05);and there was also no significant difference in SCL-90 total score among students from cities,counties and towns(F = 1.104,P>0.05).but the total scores of GSES of the students who are from cities,counties and towns were significantly different(F-3.853,P<0.05).Afterwards,the 2-2 comparison(LSD method based on homogeneity of variance)shows that the total score of GSES of cities students is significantly higher than that of rural students,but there is no significant difference between cities students and county students;the total score of GSES of county students is not significantly different from that of rural students.5.There was a significant positive correlation between self-efficacy and social support(r = 0.370).There was a significant negative correlation in total average between self-efficacy and SCL-90(r =-0.189).There was a significant negative correlation in total average between social support and SCL-90(r =-0.414).6.Self-efficacy alone had a significant negative impact on SCL-90 total score(β =-0.189,P<0.001),and had a significant positive impact on social support(β=-0.189,P<0.001).After additional social support,the influence of self-efficacy on the total score of SCL-90 was not significant(β=-0.041,P>0.05),and social support had a significant negative impact on the total score of SCL-90(β=-0.399,P<0.001).Conclusions1.Mental health of medical college students have their own characteristics,somatization,interpersonal sensitivity is lower than the national norm,forcing,terror,mental illness than the national norm.2.Male students’ self-efficacy is significantly better than female students’,yet they have the equal level of social support and mental health.3.The social support level of grade one and grade three is better than that of grade two,yet the self-efficacy and mental health level of students in different grades are quite equal.4.There is no significant difference between the level of social support and mental health of students from cities,counties and towns.The self-efficacy of cities students is better than that of rural students,while the cities students and county students,county students and rural students have the same sense of self-efficacy.5.The higher the social support and the stronger self-efficacy of medical college students,the higher the social support or self-efficacy of medical students,the better the mental health level(the higher the total SCL-90 score is,the worse the mental health level is).6.Self efficacy has a low predictive effect on the level of mental health,and social support plays a full mediating role between self-efficacy and mental health. |
