Reconsidering On Marx's Theory Of Reification

Marx divides the history of human development into three major social forms.The stage of 'personal independence based upon dependence mediated by things' is the reified society based on the generalized development of commodity economy.Marx's reification theory is the social critical theory based on the historical materialism.Critique has a dual dimension with a negative side and a positive side.We must recognize the positive significance of reification in a certain period of historical development.On this basis,compared with the traditional society,this paper analyzes and explores the positivity of reification further,which is helpful for us to grasp the wholeness of Marx's reification theory and understand the Marx's reification theory comprehensively and the dialectically.The main aim of reconsidering on Marx's theory of reification is to analyze and explore the positive aspects of reification explained by Marx's reification theory.Standing on the perspective of historical materialism,this paper analyzes and explores the positive aspects of reification from three aspects:personal level,social level and historical level.At the personal level,reification plays a promotive role in the relative independence of human beings,the development of individual capabilities and the development of human needs;At the social level,it is pointed that compared with the traditional society,reification promotes the openness,order and mobility of the modern society.In the development of human history,it reveals the positive role of reification in the development of productive forces,the development of social relations and the enhancement of human subjectivity.Through the exploration and analysis of the positive aspects of reification,this paper points out that the 'personal independence based upon dependence mediated by things' is progressive to 'human dependence' and plays fundamental role in the free and all-round development of society.Through this paper,the positive effects of reification on the progress of personal development,social development and historical development is revealed.Finally,combining the positive aspects of reification with the realistic background of the development of China in the New era,the author points out the significance of reconsidering on Marx's theory of reification for the development of China in the New era.Standing in the position of historical materialism,this paper systematically discusses the positive aspects of reification phenomena explained by Marx's reification theory from the three levels of individual level,social level and historical development level.Here,we must emphasize that the research and analysis of the positive aspects of reification is not uncritical praise,our ultimate goal is to overcome and discard reification.
