Tianjin Dolphin Hearing Disabled Children's Choir is a non-profit choir founded by 20 cochlear-implanted children and more than 40 volunteers.According to the statistics proven by Advanced Bionics AG,USA,it is the first and the only choir of this kind in the world.I,as one of the volunteers, had been in the Teaching Department of the Choir since March 2016 working with those children's training 6hours every week.During this period, many problems, which I'd never encounter in training normal children's choirs, was unveiled. From this unique experience of practice did I realize that should nobody, even the hearing disabled,be excluded from the cultural activities for the mass. And after all the long association with those children I started to think that “Art serves the people” was not just an empty talk but something vital. As someone who is learning professional chorus conducting,it is supposed that we should focus more into the grassroots and the ordinary people besides the professionals. We are obliged to take those who was physically challenged, especially those who got problems with their hearing, into consideration and to pay attention to their will and needs on arts.It becomes an inevitable fact that we ought to serve and support them. Therefore, the thought of taking this as my dissertation germinated in my brain. And I started this study with the hearty support and help of my supervisor. This paper mainly focuses on the function and appliance of artificial cochlear as well as the listening ability of those cochlear-implanted children. Moreover,it describes the problems and some corresponding solutions we have when we train those children to sing and chorus. Also,it concludes some facets and issues that is yet to be studied.
