Issac Babel is a Jewish short-story novelist born in Russia in the late 19 th century. He was involved in the war of Soviet and Polish, and later he wrote the world-renowned "Red Cavalry Army".In that era,his work was more historical influenced than his contemporary Russian writers,he also had a more profound experience than the Jewish writers of Eastern Europe. It is important in the literature of the Silver Age.Research on Babel has been continued in the West and Russia for nearly a hundred years, but for China,it has only just begun.Especially for his Jewish identity and performance in his works,is an urgent subject to be explored. This article sorts out his works through analyzing those texts, discovers the internal connection and logic, and recalls the literary participation of a Jewish writer in the war years. The article is divided into four parts. The introduction is a review of the domestic and foreign studies of Babel`s literature and its purpose and significance.I found out that the study of Jewish identity of Babel is less;the first part is the historical background of Babel, mainly from the history of Jewish dispersion, the characteristics of scattered culture, the plight of Jews in Eastern Europe and the Russian Jewish literature of the time;the second part is the main content of the article, which systematically analyzes the Jewishness in Babel's works, from the "Childhood and Growth Story Series"," The Cavalry Troops Series" and "the Odessa Tales Series".Although the writing time of these works is disorderly, but from childhood stories,I can see that Jewish identity was the foundation of his inferiority and fear;from the story of cavalry soldiers,I can see his detachment and struggle for identity; From Odessa's story,I can see his deconstruction and reorganization of Jewish identity. It can be discovered that he was constructing a new world through literature and that he was also struggling to move closer to a sublimated Jewish image. From these two parts,we can see the intrinsic continuation and acceptance of Jewish diaspora culture in Babel's works, the Russian silver era and even the entire Jewish nation. The appearance of such a writer and his works not only enriches the silver age of Russian literature, but also a reflection of this era.In his work, the history of the Jewish people has also been performed orderly.
