In the paleolithic archaeological work, most of the remains were found to be tools such as tools made of stone? bone or horn, but the number of other discoveries is relatively small. Therefore, most researches of the paleolithic archaeology of China tend to study tools. However, the number of remains in other functions does not affect the significance and value of their existence. In this paper, the paleolithic ornaments in China are arranged to study its characteristics and production process, and explore the causes of its emergence and the special significance of its existence. This article is based on the related researches of paleolithic discoveries of ornaments in China, mainly including personal ornaments,as well as some cupules rock paintings, sculptures and the relics with engraved traces which are difficult to determine their nature and so on.According to the age of the selected materials,we can confirm that almost all of them are in the late paleolithic of China. The total number of related remains found in China is relatively small. The characteristics of the remains found in Northeast,North China,Northwest,Central China,Southwest and Southeast are observed and their commonalities are studied by sorting out Chinese ornaments in different regions. The overall characteristics, operation chain and main technological changes of Chinese paleolithic ornaments are summarized. The main discoveries are found in the late paleolithic, but the age in the same region by the early and late also has a certain progressive characteristic. From the study of ornaments,we can see not only the progress of human technology but also the cultural exchange and even the gradual awakening and enrichment of human consciousness. At the same time,by comparing the discovery of China with some famous discoveries of paleolithic age in other regions of the world,we can observe some similarities and differences between China and foreign countries in technology, aesthetic understanding and spiritual pursuit at that time. Most of the personal ornaments found in the paleolithic age of China are in the north, and the cupules rock paintings intensively appear in the southeast coastal areas, and only one piece of sculpture has been found in Henan. The manufacture of adornments may be stricter in technology than that of utility tools, and they are all writing about evolutionary history.Unlike utility tools, the development of ornaments stepping into the early Neolithic Age still retains a lot of paleolithic styles, although the pottery became the mainstream of the appliance, which also represents the cultural heritage. The evidence for the speculation of the field of ancient human thinking is still insufficient, and the existing researches are also combined with ethnology to carry out bold speculation.Although such impractical remains of ornaments are not large in number,it is helpful to the study of restoring the life of primitive people and exploring the thinking of ancient people.Relevant excavation and research work is still under way,and I believe more information will be obtained in the future.
