Vocabulary is the foundation of language.Therefore,the method of vocabulary teaching is widely concerned by experts and scholars and teachers.The emergence of mind map has prompted educators to apply it to the field of education,in order to improve the effect of education.Related studies have shown that mind map plays a positive role in the field of education,and it can improve students' memory and divergent thinking ability.In recent years,the thinking map has been gradually popularized and applied to the practice of vocabulary teaching.Therefore,what is the current situation of its application in teaching,what are the problems,and how to optimize has the significance of research.After the systematic review of the literature,this study took the primary school English vocabulary teaching as the research scope,and conducted a questionnaire survey and interview to the teachers and students in three primary schools in a city,aimed at understanding the status quo of the application of thinking map in the teaching of English vocabulary in primary schools.After analysis of the survey results,it is considered that the overall situation is not optimistic.There are four problems,including that teachers ignores the use of mind map to teach vocabulary,it's difficult to draw effective word mind,there are little effective word mind map resources,and it's not implement effectlively.And there may be four reasons,including that teachers' attention of mind map is not enough,teachers and students lack of knowledge literacy of thinking map,and teacher's teaching behavior is inert and the extension of thinking map is not enough in teaching.After the analysis of the cause,four countermeasures are put forward.The first one is teachers should change themselves and improve their teaching ability.The second one is schools and related departments should provide support and learning opportunities.And it also should build a platform for research and application of mind map in teaching.Hoping that all these countermeasures can provide a reference for the better application of the thinking map to the teaching of English vocabulary in primary schools.
