The Imjin Wainan that broke out between 1592 and 1598 was a major event in the history of international relations in Northeast Asia. The war lasted for eight years, and involved three northeast Asian countries,China,Joseon dynasty and Japan. The long duration, large scope and far-reaching impacts of this war have all made it a major historic event in the history of the involved countries. After the war,the three countries not only experienced different levels of change in their respective political power, but also faced new challenges in the international relations among the three countries. In the end,the war ended with a peace treaty between China and Japan.Although the Joseon dynasty suffered from Japan's invasion, however, they resumed its diplomatic and economic ties with Japan within a few years, which is an incredible event. This article will analyze the historical data of the negotiations between the Joseon dynasty and Japan post the Imjin Wainan, the post-war continuation of Ming dynasty's East Asia tributary system, and the international developments between China,Joseon dynasty and Japan in Northeast Asia from the 17 th century to the 20 th century,to further discuss the importance and impacts of the negotiations between the Joseon dynasty and Japan post the Imjin Wainan had on the Northeast Asia international relations. In addition to the introduction, this paper is divided into three chapters:The first chapter is about Attitude of Japan on the negotiations with the Joseon dynasty. This chapter is about the evolution of post-war relations between Joseon Dynasty and Japan and their reasons.Briefly introduces the post Japanese invasion of Joseon Dynasty, and the timing and process of resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The negotiation of peace treaty is divided in two stages, and signed the peace treaty in 1607.The reason why the peace talks can be reached is mainly because the postwar political regimes in Joseon Dynasty and Japan have undergone some turmoil and change, and their national consensus has also been transformed from a wartime state into a peaceful one.Japan, because of the war,is in a passive state of negotiation between the three countries;Joseon Dynasty is in urgent need of diplomatic security considerations and is worried that Japan will again commit crimes against Joseon Dynasty. Therefore,it also agreed to establish a diplomatic covenant with Japan.Falkland Islandshas always been the bridge between Joseon Dynasty and Japan, because of its special status it eases the process of restoration in the relations between North and South Joseon Dynasty.Chapter two, later stages of the negotiations.China's attitude and reasons towards the repair of Diplomatic Relations between Joseon Dynasty and Japan.Japan was the main rival of the Ming dynasty in the Joseon dynasty Invasion, and Joseon Dynasty was the most important and most inter-related part of the East Asia tributary system maintained by the Ming dynasty. The Ming dynasty as the suzerain not only did not oppose the resumption of diplomatic relations between Joseon Dynasty and Japan, but have kept an acquiescence attitude, the reason is intriguing. As is known to all,the WanLi aid DPRK war ended on the basis of peace talks. Then the Ming Dynasty and Japanese conventions can be seen as a continuation of the Ming and Japanese resolutions and the Ming government did not dislike the peace process.Thirdly, after the rise of the post-Jin Dynasty, the rule of the Ming Dynasty was greatly challenged. The domestic rule was also challenged everywhere.Under the circumstance of internal and external disasters, the control over the vassal countries would be relatively weakened. In this way,the Ming government formed a tacit agreement on the DPRK-Japan convention and non-interference policy.Chapter Three, the restoration of diplomatic relations between the Joseon dynasty and Japan and evolution of the international relations in Northeast Asia. The rise of Post-Jin Dynasty is undoubtedly an emerging force in the international relations in Northeast Asia.Coupled with its special geographical location,it lies on the highway of Ming Dynasty and Joseon Dynasty, and the rapid growth of the post-Jin Dynasty makes itself an important part of the establishment of contacts between Joseon Dynasty and Japan, and thus affecting the development of international relations in Northeast Asia. Both Joseon Dynasty and Japan are members of the East Asian tribute system. In the face of the change of power at the tribute center, both sides also have their own attitudes. However, the resumption of diplomatic relations between Joseon Dynasty and Japan is definitely an important factor affecting the history of international relations in Northeast Asia.
