Research On The Transformation Of The Industrial Cities Of Ruhr,Federal Republic Of Germany After 1958

With the development of the Industrial Revolution,industrial cities in Ruhr had risen one after another and had jointly built the Ruhr area,one of the most important and largest industrial areas in Germany and the world.With the outbreak of the Coal Crisis of 1958,both the Ruhr industrial cities and the Ruhr area were in trouble and had to make a transition.However,from 1958 to the present,industrial cities of Ruhr have chosen a different transformation path and together create a new Ruhr area.This article takes the transformation of Ruhr's two industrial cities,Dortmund and Essen,as examples.It briefly analyzes the background and transitional necessity of transformation of the two cities and then analyzes the different paths of transformation and their results,and lastly summarizes the significances of the transition of the two cities to the Ruhr Area and Federal Republic of Germany,and the enlightenments to the transformation of China's industrial cities.Through the analysis of this article,we show that the transformation of an industrial city must be not only adapted to local conditions,be adapted to the times,but also be not afraid of difficulties,go straight ahead.This article is divided into three chapters.The first chapter mainly analyzes the background of the transformation of Ruhr industrial cities after 1958.Firstly,it will introduce the development status of the Ruhr area and two industrial cities of Ruhr,Dortmund and Essen before 1958;then,it analyzes the outbreak of the Coal Crisis of 1958,and the industrial cities of Ruhr have fallen into economic decline,ecological destruction,unemployment problems,etc;finally,it is clarified that in order to be able to sustainably develop the economy,enhance regional competitiveness,and keep pace with the new era,Ruhr industrial cities must undergo a transition.The second chapter mainly analyzes the transition paths of Ruhr industrial cities with Dortmund and Essen as examples.Firstly,it analyzes the city of Dortmund which takes the road of scientific and technological innovation;secondly,it analyzes the city of Essen that chooses the path of cultural creativity;finally,it analyzes the similarities and differences of the transition paths of the two cities and the reasons.This will not only provides a more in-depth understanding of the transition paths of the two cities,but also illustrates the diversity and richness of the transition paths of industrial cities of Ruhr.The third chapter mainly analyzes the result,influence and enlightenment of the transformation of Ruhr industrial cities.First of all,it analyzes the achievements and problems faced by the transformation of Ruhr industrial cities.Secondly,it analyzes the economic,social,cultural,and ecological impacts of Ruhr industrial cities' transitions on the Ruhr region and Federal Republic of Germany.Finally,it analyzes the implications of the transformation of Ruhr industrial cities on the transformation of China's industrial cities.The most important thing is that China's industrial cities must choose appropriate roads for transformation in light of actual conditions.They cannot be "one size fits all"and cannot be achieved overnight.
