With the development of economy and advancement of medical science,as well as the continuous advancement of the international dissemination of Chinese medicine culture, the theory and practice research of Chinese traditional medical translation is also constantly developing, providing a favorable environment for the exchange and innovation of all humanity's medical undertakings.Since Chinese ancient medicine books are generally difficult to understand, even Chinese people cannot understand it completely.Even if it is translated into vernacular Chinese,it is also not easy for people to understand it.Therefore,a kind of programs which are related to traditional Chinese medicine came into being, because they are easy to understand.Among them,Chinese Medicine, broadcast on CCTV's international channel,is committed to showcasing China's traditional medicine to the world, reporting on China's major principles and policies in the field of medicine and health, and paying attention to the exchanges between Chinese medicine and the international community. The subtitles are the bridge to connect the columns with the target audience,so this column can be sought after overseas, which is inseparable from the translation of subtitles. In the subtitle translation, the target audience is the main factor that determines the purpose of translation.Coupled with the characteristics of subtitles limited by time and space, how to translate to achieve the best dissemination purpose has always been a direction for scholars to study. Therefore,Skopos Theory was naturally introduced into the guidance of subtitle translation.Skopos Theory is the main component of the German functionalist translation theory. It is free from the constraints of Nida's equivalence theory, redefines the scope of translation, and provides a reference for the translator to adopt the best method. It provides a flexible theoretical basis for the development of TCM translation and the spread of TCM throughout the world with its non-conformist concept. Therefore,it is of theoretical and practical significance to study the translation of subtitles from the perspective of Skopos Theory. In particular, the combination of Skopos Theory and the translation practice of Chinese subtitles is a new attempt and exploration in the field of translation.Based on the characteristics of television subtitles, the author starts with a variety of translation methods under the guidance of Skopos Theory, and analyzes the English subtitles of Chinese Medicine. In the process of translation, the author analyzes the ways of using translation methods such as literal translation, free translation, transliteration and word-by-word translation to make the subtitles play the most effective role in the transmission of information,so that western audiences can better understand, accept and even use Chinese medicine. This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter mainly summarizes the research background, clarifies the significance of research, puts forward the research content and methods, and the research framework of this paper. The second chapter is a review and summary of domestic and foreign subtitle translation, and points out the shortcomings of current domestic research. The third chapter is the elaboration of the theoretical framework used in this paper. The fourth chapter is the essence of this article.Taking the English-subtitled subtitles of Chinese Medicine as an example,it first describes the characteristics of television subtitles, and then analyzes how Skopos Theory influences the choice of subtitle translation methods and discusses how to adopt it in the translation process.Effective translation methods allow foreign audiences to better understand and learn Chinese traditional medical culture. The last chapter summarizes the research of the full text and puts forward the deficiencies of this research and future research directions.
