| Background: Considerable evidence suggests that multiple health behavior change(MHBC)interventions are effective for health behavior initiation and maintenance. However, there is a lack of understanding on sequential effects on multiple health behavior change.Purpose:(1)to evaluate the effectiveness of a web-based intervention on PA and FV consumption and relevant psychological outcomes;(2)to examine whether the former health behavior(PA/FVI)can facilitate the latter health behavior(FVI/PA)in two sequence patterns.Method: Based on Health Action Process Approach(HAPA)model,a web-based pilot intervention study was conducted in university of China.90 university students were assigned into one of the following groups randomly:(1)Intervention Group I(IG-1): first 4-week on PA & latter 4-week on FVI;(2)Intervention Group II(IG-2): first 4-week on FVI & latter 4-week on PA;(3)Control group(CG): students did not receive any treatment.Students in all 3groups were asked to complete electronic questionnaires at four time points including baseline(T1),week 5(T2),week 9(T3),and 1 month follow-up(T4).Repeated measures ANOVAs and independent t-tests were performed for the data analysis.Results:(1)Both intervention groups(IG1-2)were superior to the control group on fruits and vegetables(FV)intake, motivation of FV consumption, planning, social support and self-efficacy.(2)There were significant differences between IG-I group and IG-II group on FVI intake and the factors of FVI motivation,self-efficacy and planning. And there were no significant differences between IG-I group and IG-II group on PA change and the factors related PA.Conclusion: Intervention on PA firstly could facilitate the effect of FV intervention on FVI and factors related FV. |
