Tan Yankai and Michael Borodin shared the same experience of the process of the first Kuomintang-Communist Party cooperation from establishment to rupture. After arriving in China, although Borodin did not establish direct contact with Tan Yankai, they supported Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary cause politically and militarily. After Sun's death,Tan and Borodin complied with his last wishes, including jointly safeguarding the new Three People's Principles, promoting the establishment of the Guangzhou National Government, supporting movements of the workers and peasants, opposing the "Western Hill Conference Fiction" and reconciling the "Zhongshan Warship Incident",etc. With the continuous development of the revolutionary process, after the issue of capital relocation,Tan's thought began to change into the rightist.During the great revolution crisis, although Borodin adopted a policy of strategic retreat,he could not stop Kuomintang and the Communist Party from breaking up.This paper is divided into four parts to analyze the relationship between Tan Yankai and Michael Borodin. In the first part "Tan and Borodin's Acquaintance with the Forming Period of Kuomintang-Communist Party Cooperation",taking Sun Yat-sen as the main line, the author analyzed the positive role they played in the establishment of the first Kuomintang-Communist Party cooperation. At the same time, both of them actively promoted the development of the national revolutionary movement, and spared no efforts to publicize the new Three People's Principles. In the second part "Jointly Maintaining the United Front of the Kuomintang-Communist Party Cooperation",Tan and Borodin struggled together with the Right, and resolutely safeguarded the basic principles and policies of the Kuomintang-Communist Party cooperation, and their relationship has become increasingly close out of many cooperation. At this time,Borodin thought Tan Yankai was an unswerving Kuomintang leftist. The third part is "Tan and Borodin Trying Hard to Maintain the Overall Situation after the Kuomintang-Communist Party Cooperation Splitting up".With the advance of the Northern Expedition, the issue of capital relocation was put on the agenda and the counterrevolutionary intention of the Kuomintang rightists was gradually revealed. At this time,Tan's thought started to tend to be right, but in general,he continued to maintain the Kuomintang-Communist Party cooperation together with Borodin. And in the fourth part "Evaluating the Relationship Between Tan Yankai and Michael Borodin",the author analyzed the reasons for mutual trust and cooperation between them during the period of the great revolution respectively from the perspectives of themselves.
