Having experienced with two World Wars, the power of British Empire declined. With its decline, the pace of the independence of the colonial people under the British Empire was accelerated. In the 1970s,the Rhodesian issue was the biggest problem for the British colonies, and Africa, especially southern Africa, becoming the last battlefield of the Cold War as a result of the global decolonization process.Rhodesia was Britain's last colony in Africa. At that time, the Soviet Union's activities in southern Africa accelerated the process of bringing Rhodesia into independence.Based on the academic research results at home and abroad, this paper intends to take the effect of Britain in this settlement process and summarizes the policy of decolonization taken by Britain in the post-war period, especially in the 1970s.The discussion of this paper focuses on the following three points:Firstly, why the pace of Zimbabwe's independence has been delayed for a decade or two than the other British colonies?Secondly, why did Britain push Zimbabwe to independence in the late 1970s and early 1980s?Finally,how did the British government work in the process of independence?...
