Under the background of informationization and the internationalization of higher education, the knowledge renewal cycle is shortened, and countries in the world recognize the significance of autonomous learning ability in personnel training. In fact, cultivating autonomous learning ability is one of the crucial goals of modern education, which has been highly paid attention to in college English teaching.According to the prior teaching practice in college and questionnaire survey on status quo of college students' autonomous learning ability, the author finds two problems in students' autonomous learning of college English listening: First, students' independent learning ability in English listening is weak. The ideal autonomous learning is that learners can determine their own learning goals, attitude, content, environment and monitor their own learning, assessment and adjustment, but most of the students just complete the tasks assigned by the teacher without clear goals, not to mention self-monitoring and self-evaluation.Second,students have poor English listening ability.Numerous colleges and universities in the country still adopt the traditional English teaching model—infusion teaching, which can't reflect students ' dominant role in classroom,so that students' learning efficiency in English listening is low, which gradually weakens their enthusiasm and initiative of learning English, and ultimately hinders their English listening scores from rising. In order to reform the traditional English teaching model and strengthen autonomous learning ability of college students' English listening and English listening scores, the author composed the Multi-dimensional Curriculumbased Experiential Teaching Model(the MCET Model)under the guidance of related theories such as multidimensional curriculum approach, interactive hypothesis, embodied philosophy and constructivism learning theory. The MCET teaching model has been applied in the English listening class of 39 students in Wenzhou Business College for eight weeks. The author collected data on the implementation of MCET teaching model by utilizing the methods of questionnaire, test and interview and analyzed the data with Excel 2010 and SPSS 20.0.Through data analysis, the following points are observed:(1)The MCET teaching model boosts students' independent learning ability in English listening.(2)The MCET teaching model can enhance students' English listening scores.(3)There is a significant positive correlation between students' English performance and independent learning ability. The findings above indicate that MCET teaching model has positive effects on the improvement of students' autonomous learning ability of learning English listening and English competence as well.Because of time limit, there are some limitations in this study, such as short implementation time and small sample. In this regard, the author will expand the sample to 200 sophomore students in the follow-up research and conduct practice research for the effectiveness of the teaching model among them.Meanwhile, the author will attempt to study the model of cultivating college students' English reading and writing ability of autonomous learning.
