With the rapid development of information technology,new media are changing various industries.College English Autonomous-Learning plat form,as an important form of new media in foreign language teaching,complies with the requirements of English teaching reform launched by the Ministry of Education.Its personalized self-learning mode provides convenient conditions for students' language learning.All along,listening teaching in foreign language teaching is a very important part.It is the consensus of many linguists and foreign language education experts that "listening" is the starting point of foreign language learning.In recent years,English listening teaching has changed dramatically."College English Curriculum Requirements" promoted and stressed that the new teaching model should be established on-modern technology,especially network technology,in order to conform to the real needs.Thus,how to design a new model of college English listening teaching is the major concern of the listening teaching reform and the issue we need to explore.Based on theories of constructivism and comprehensible input and Hubei University English autonomous learning platform for research samples,this paper explores new media applications in today's status of college English listening teaching,and proposed suggestions for constructing human-computer interactive college English listening teaching mode.This study used questionnaires,interviews and other research methods.A survey is conducted about the current English listening teaching by a questionnaire to 127 non-English major students of Hubei University.With SPSS the data was analyzed to understand the status of today's college English listening teaching.Based on the result,the author designed a network-based college English teaching mode.In the second semester of 2012-2013,two classes of students are selected as the experimental class and the control board to carry out the experiment.In the experimental class,teachers guide students to use the network of independent learning platform;in the control classes,teachers do not use this platform.In the beginning and at the end of the semester,the author conducted two tests on students' English listening level,and then used SPSS for statistical analysis,and finally drew the following conclusions:1.Overall,the results of the test scores of the experimental class and the control class were improved compared to the previous test,but the results of the experimental class were obviously higher than the control class,and the results showed significant differences after the control class;2.From the interaction between the students and their online learning time,their listening scores and the total number of the net post showed strong positive correlation,the online time of students had a weak positive correlation;3.Through interviews,we found that most students can choose the appropriate training modules according to their level of English,and gradually increase the level of hearing;a few students cannot effectively use the network of English self-learning platform.Based on these conclusion,the authors put forward some teaching recommendations:1.Teachers in listening teaching should fully understand the students”listening skills,guiding students to choose a suitable training area in the autonomous learning plat form,and gradually improving listening skills;2.Teachers should teach in details in the classroom the network operating skills of independent learning platform,guiding students' online learning and entertainment time,the effective use of network platform to improve self-learning ability.
