21 century witnesses the emergence of the information age.ICT has affected all the aspects of human life.Education also characterizes informatization.The integration of ICT and disciplines has become a hot topic in contemporary educational research.Teachers,as crucial parts in the informational education process,determine schools'development of informational education.So,English teachers'ICT literacy has a great impact on the English teaching today,including teaching contents,methods and outcomes.However,to cultivate teachers' ICT literacy,first attention should be paid to pre-service teachers,and continually to in-service teachers.Thus,it's necessary to investigate the general situation of pre-service English teachers' ICT literacy.This study investigated 100 senior English-major students from two universities in Zhejiang province,Zhejiang Normal University(ZJNU)and Hangzhou Normal University(HZNU),which have representativeness in nurturing future teachers in Zhejiang.This study mainly focused on three questions:firstly,the general situation of pre-service English teachers' ICT literacy;then,relevant factors that cause the general situation;lastly,effective strategies to improve their ICT literacy.This study employed online questionnaire,interviews and classroom observations.Through the analysis of the collected data,relevant conclusions of the study were obtained.Research findings indicated that these pre-service English teachers had good ICT literacy in general,which included good ICT awareness in teaching and ICT competency.However,when integrating ICT into English teaching,many problems existed,such as too few forms of integration,too much focus on the form of ICT,lack of typical teaching cases to learn and so on.After in-depth analysis,the writer found that there were many influencing factors that caused the general situation of pre-service English teachers' ICT literacy:ICT environment in universities,college teachers' ICT awareness and competency,related ICT courses,personal interests and motivation for ICT development,abundant chances of teaching practice and so on.To improve pre-service English teachers' ICT literacy,following strategies were proposed.Firstly,universities should improve the ICT environment in the school.Secondly,universities should set up related courses about ICT integration.Thirdly,college teachers' ICT awareness and competency should be improved.Fourthly,universities carry out related lectures and trainings about ICT for students.Lastly,college students should take the initiative and improve their theoretical and practical level of ICT integration through autonomous learning.
