At present,there is still a serious problems of insufficient teacher resources in rural areas in China.The government has issued many relevant policies to encourage the development of general education,so that rural teachers can adapt to the teaching work of multi-subject or any subject more quickly after taking up their posts.As a foreign language,English requires a high level of listening,speaking,reading and writing skills as well as cross-cultural knowledge for teachers.Therefore,special attention should be paid to the cultivation of their English disciplinary competency in the training process of general teachers.In addition to learning public pedagogy courses,general teachers of pre-service need to learn professional knowledge of multiple subjects in university.However,the current training mainly follows the mode of traditional classroom teaching.The time in class is limited,and the communication between teacher and students after class is also limited by various practical factors.It's difficult for students to achieve the required level of English disciplinary competency in a limited time because of many problems,such as insufficient English class hours,little interaction,etc.At the same time,with the rapid development of digital mobile communication,mobile devices have become the daily necessities of students.WeChat,as an instant messaging software,can effectively break the time and space boundary of communication between teacher and students.And it has already take the E-learning to a higher platform.This thesis aims to explore the feasibility and effectiveness of WeChat-based learning in the cultivation of English disciplinary competency of pre-service primary school teachers.It introduces the research background,and expounds the research purpose,significance and main research contents.It explains relevant concepts,sorts out research trends at home and abroad,and explores the theoretical feasibility of this study from the perspectives of Constructivism learning theory,Informal learning theory and Second language acquisition theory.Through field investigation to know the current teaching status of English teachers in rural primary schools,and summarize the problems.In the training of pre-service primary school teachers(college students of this major),they have the needs to participate in WeChatbased learning.During the experiment,the data of students' participation in WeChat were collected and analyzed.At last,based on the analyses of experimental data,it gives out the results of the research and some advice about WeChat in the cultivation of English disciplinary competency.This research mainly uses the WeChat Platform and the "Knowledge Circle"--a small program in WeChat--to send English knowledge and guide students to finish daily work.The research results show that WeChat can construct a full range of virtual learning space from knowledge dissemination to students' self-learning and interaction between teacher and students.WeChat-based English learning can effectively break through the limitation of time and space,thus teachers and students can arrange their own time flexibly.Meanwhile,students can adjust their learning progress flexibly according to their actual ability.The results of this study fully affirmed the positive role of WeChat in the field of education,and also made a new exploration for traditional school teaching.
