The article applied the achievements at home and abroad,adopted the empirical research method,exploring the regional defense organization in the Middle East during the early Cold War,namely the history of the Baghdad Pact.After the World War ?,more and more countries in the Middle East achieved independence,the United States entered the Middle East gradually,in order to retain its influence in the Middle East,The Britain had envisioned found the Middle East Command,but failed.In order to contain the Soviet Union,Dulls toured to the Middle East.Then,Dulls advocated the establishment of the new Middle East defense system.Driven by the America,Firstly,the Turkey and the Pakistan received the Turco-Pakistani Agreement,Turkey and America wanted to bring Iraq into the Turco-Pakistani Agreement,but failed.With the joint efforts of Turkey and America,Turkey and Iraq signed the Turco-Iraqi treaty.Then,the Britain,the Pakistan as well as Iran joined one by one,forming the Baghdad Pact.The American aid is the driving force behind the accession of Pakistan,Iraq and Iran.Although the America is the leader of the Baghdad Pact really,it had refused to joined in formally.Because of the opposition of Egypt and the Soviet Union,the ideas of bringing other countries failed.The Council meetings were held in the London,Karachi,Tehran,Baghdad sequently.The operation system of the Baghdad Pact was established at the Baghdad conference initially.The America and Britain have provided substantial economic and military assistance to other members of the Baghdad Pact,were the backing of the Baghdad Pact.Although the member countries reached consensuses on the development,there is growing disagreement over international issues.The Suez Crisis had a bad influence on the Baghdad Pact,made the differences appearently.With the America and Pakistan coordinated,the Baghdad Pact developed again.After the Iraq revolution occurred in July 1958,the Iraq quitted the Baghdad Pact.In August 1959,the Baghdad Pact renamed the Central Treaty Organization.
