Li Jinming is frequently referred to as a provincial writer in the narration of literary history, whereas the most essential trait throughout all of his writings is the presentation of zeitgeist, which objectively associates him inseparably with the revolutionary literature and gives his works immense value in the history of revolutionary literature. This article will thereupon study Li Jinming's relation to revolutionary literature in order to get a panoramic apprehension of his literary achievements, artistic views and his own life journey.Chronologically, this article consists of four chapters. In chapter one,the characteristics and significance of Li's revolutionary novelistic creation about May Thirtieth Movement will be studied.Li's writings in this period is remarkably relevant to its time.As the first writer who combined the anti-imperialism motive with the working class subject and responsed to the theoretical initiatives about revolutionary literature after May Thirtieth Movement,Li can be considered as an important pioneer in widening the thematical boundary of revolutionary literature. The second chapter explores Li Jinming's view of revolutionary literature after the failure of the National Revolution. It argues that the creation of "The shadow of the Peasant Movement" is not just an ideological expression and that Lu Xun's introducing of this novel despite coercion is based on their similar view of revolutionary literature. Also,by logically presenting the motivations, agents and reasons leading to its failure of the revolution, the writer gives a panoramic picture of peasant movement in his narratives which documents the reality in every details. In Chapter three,Li's relation to the Left League will be examed, while "the Mist of the War" will be review as part of the whole anti-Japanese literature movement in the early 1930s.At this time,Li kept in loose touch with the Left League, but he shared the same valve orientation with this group nevertheless.Meanwhile, this novel makes an unique contribution because of its panoramic description of the Battle of Songhu. The fourth chapter will investigate Li Jinming's conversion in the mid-1930s to"right-wing literature" which called for "nationalistic literature and art".On the one hand, the article will analysis the time and the performance and the concrete connotation of his conversion,on the other hand,it will research the reason from three aspects. The label of "provincial writer" conceals the complexity of Li Jinming's writings. In spite of his entangled and ambiguous relation to revolutionary literature, his work is still relevant in the history of revolutionary literature. He deserves therefore a revaluation in the literature history.
