This report is based on a translation project named Long-term Effects of Class Size during my internship, which is from the Quarterly Journal of Economics. This academic paper studies the long-term impact of class size on individuals, which uses fuzzy regression discontinuity design on the basis of the data from Sweden. It is concluded that the class size has a long-term impact on the individual, through the test of cognition and noncognitive abilities of students at the ages of 13,16 and 18,the level of education and the wages at the ages of 27 to 42.This translation project belongs to the economic academic paper. As a practical non-literary text, there are a large number of terms and professional expressions which is difficult to translate. This report uses Reiss's text typology and Vermeer's skopos theory as the theoretical guidance. The translator uses some translation strategies and translation techniques to solve the difficulties involved in the source text and to make the translation version professional and smooth. The report is divided into five parts. The first part is mainly to introduce the translation project, including the background, requirements and significance of the project;the second part is the translation procedures, including preparation before translation, translation process and proofreading. It is important to make preparation before translation.Text analysis and parallel texts reading are necessary;the third part is the theoretical framework, which expounds Reiss's text typology and Vermeer's skopos theory;the fourth part is case analysis,in which the translator analyses the translation of words and long sentences. For the translation of terms,it is solved by reading parallel texts and searching through the Internet. The common words are handled by translation techniques such as diction, amplification and adaption. As for the long and complex sentences, the translator uses sequential translation, separation and integration as the translation techniques;the fifth part is the summary, including the reflections and limitations.Through this translation practice, the translator has realized the characteristics and difficulties of paper translation. As is known to all,the academic paper aims to convey the author's views and provide us with academic achievements. From this point of view, communicative is the primary purpose of paper translation. Therefore, the translator believes that skopos theory of functionalism is a suitable guidance for paper translation, which may serve as a reference for other ranslators. In addition,to ensure the quality and quantity of the translation project,we must accumulate more experience and practice diligently.
