As the Belt and Road Initiative has struck deep roots in the hearts of the people, the number of university-enterprise alliance and enterprise international cooperation agreements is constantly increasing under its framework, including MOUs(Memorandums of Understanding)and constitutions.Consequently,a growing number of translation materials has been presented and the demand for high-quality translation of cooperation documents has been increasing. This translation practice report is carried out for the author's English translation of Constitutions on the Belt and Road University-Enterprise Consortium for International Talent Cultivation and Constitutions on the Belt and Road Entrepreneurs' Consortium, the task given by School of International Education,University of Electronic Science and Technology of China(UESTC).The two cooperation agreements incorporate the rules and regulations of the university-enterprise consortium and enterprise international cooperation.Reiss' s Text Typology theory is selected in this report to guide and analyze the source texts and the translation.Text type is inseparable from translation, and thus the determination of text type and its function is of great significance to the selection of translation methods.Focusing on “fidelity”,the primary rule in informative text translation, and combining the features of the source texts at the lexical, syntactic and discourse levels, the author adopts corresponding translation strategies and methods to reproduce the information of the source language in a more faithful, clearer and more idiomatic way, striving to be faithful to the source texts. This report is comprised of five chapters. The first chapter gives a brief account. It primarily presents task introduction, translation process and translation purpose and significance. The second chapter devotes to the source text analysis. It mainly analyzes the language features of the cooperation agreements, including profuse use of stylized terminology and formulaic lexical collocation at the lexical level, noticeable parallel structures and abundant declarative sentences at the syntactic level, varied cohesive devices and fixed stylized language at the discourse level. The third chapter is the theoretical basis. It expounds major concepts mentioned in Reiss' s Text Typology theory and indicates that fidelity is the primary rule in informative text translation according to the language features of the source texts. The fourth chapter is the case study and the core of this report. It elaborates translation methods employed according to the language features of the informative text and the required rule in the process of translation and explores such specific translation strategies and methods as transplantation, literal translation, retention, reconstruction, addition, repetition and loan translation,so that the translation can be more faithful, clearer and more idiomatic. And the last chapter is the conclusion of the translation practice report as a whole. It specifies the author's major findings in the thesis research and translation practice, limitations of this report and prospects for relevant research. It is also concluded in this report that Reiss' s Text Typology theory is effective in guiding the translation of such informative texts as cooperation agreements,in the hope of providing reference for scholars engaging in the translation and research on the texts of this kind.
