As a representative of traditional Chinese culture,Confucius has a global influence. The Confucius institute, which has been spread in many countries and regions all over the world after more than ten years of development. It is an important language and cultural strategy in China to promote the Confucius institute. As a window for the world to understand China,Confucius institutes play an irreplaceable role in cultural diplomacy and public diplomacy. The African region is a special region, compared with other continents, the numbers of Confucius institutes in Africa are few,but they are the fastest growing and most dynamic one. However, behind this rapid development lies the imbalance of spatial distribution. It is beneficial to understand the layout of Confucius institutes in Africa, and to forecast the distribution pattern in the future.Based on the number of the Confucius institute of 2011 and 2017 in Africa as the dependent variable, the negative binomial distribution model for the final interpretation model,we studied the host country political dimensions(political stability),economic dimension(per capita GDP,the total import and export trade),geographical dimension(population)factors on the influence of the Confucius institute.Study found that the political stability of the host country, per capita GDP,trade relations with China and the total population, they jointly decide the distribution pattern of the Confucius institute in Africa. However, the influence of these four factors are different:the total population of resident countries has always been an important factor affecting the establishment of Confucius institutes. The political stability of the host country is not the influence factor at the beginning, but as time went on,political stability has become influencing factors, and become more and more significant; The per capita GDP of the resident countries has always been a factor influencing the establishment of Confucius institutes in Africa, and the impact has become more and more significant as time goes on.The trade relationship between the host country and China was a strong factor that affected the establishment of Confucius institutes in Africa at the beginning, but with time goes by,the influence became smaller and smaller. This paper analyzes the causes of the above conclusions and puts forward some policy Suggestions for the development of Confucius institute in Africa and promoting cultural output. In the empirical analysis part due to the absence of related data(the language and cultural distance?detail information about the university and city),hence we unable to examine these factors.future research can add these variables into analyze,to see whether it affect the conclusions in this paper. Finally, this paper uses two sets of data in 2011 and 2017 for comparative analysis. The time span is small, and there is possibility of bias.It is suggested that the future research should use the data of more time span to do the analysis and test the conclusion of this paper.
