A Study On The King Zhao's Expedition To The South In Western Zhou Bronze Inscription And Related Problems

The King Zhao's Expedition to the Sonth is a major event in the history of Western Zhou Dynasty,both the moder editions and unearthed literatures are recorded.Due to the King Zhao's military failure and death in Han River,a taboo of the people of the Zhou Dynasty,the records in the literature are not detailted.This paper sorts out the the King Zhao's Expedition to the South in Western Zhou Bronze Inscription,collecting scholars' opinions as comprehensively as possible,in order to provide a reference for the deep study.The paper consists of five parts:introduction,variorum,discussion of related problems,appendix and reference.Firstly the introduction illuminates the purpose of this paper,then we summarize the King Zhao's expedition to the south in Western Zhou bronze inscription and related researches.Finally it is the structure,material selection and research method of the paper.Chapter one of the paper is the variorum of the King Zhao's Bronze Inscriptions in chronological order which is the main part of the paper.Finding out the time,event and personal connections among the bronze inscription.Chapter two of the paper is the study of related problems.There are three aspects of Object,Route and Calendar Arrangement,trying to clarify the desirable opinions and obvious mistakes.Chapter three is the appendix part.Appendix one is the research on the“punitive expedition against Hufang(??)”and relevant issues.Appendix two is a view'list on the chronology of the bronze vessels related to the King Zhao's expedition to the south.Finally it is the reference.
