The Eastern Yi was the contempt of the central dynasty for the people in the east. The expedition to the Eastern Yi bronze inscriptions refer to those inscriptions on bronze vessels containing the category of "conquering the Eastern Yi" or "anti-Yi".The Eastern Yi was always in a state of impermanent rebellion against the central dynasty, which was especially evident in the early Western Zhou dynasty. The bronze inscriptions in the early Western Zhou dynasty recorded this period of history clearly. The arrangement and study of these bronze inscriptions will help us to understand the process of the generation of ancient Chinese ideas and the integration of ancient peoples. This paper was divided into two main parts: variorum and the study of related problems. The part of variorum was the compilation of the opinions of the former scholars. We make notes for the toponym and controversial words, analyze and discuss from the aspects of glyphs, history, related materials of the inscriptions on oracle bone-gold and the bronze inscriptions and archaeological discovery.Among them, the "Feng Guo" on the Cheng fang ding bronze inscriptions located in the present Qing Zhou city of Shandong province;the "(?)" on the Lu Hou zun bronze inscriptions was the original character of "Xi" and "Bi" in ancient books, which is the "Bi Yi" situated in Shang Ye town in the northwest of Fei county,Shandong province;the starting point of the expedition "(?)" on the Xiao Chen Lai gui bronze inscriptions should be translated into "(?)",which is located near the present Luo Yang city in Henan province, the "Hai Mei" of "conquering Hai Mei" was the coastal area of Qi.According to the route described in the inscriptions,it can be generally inferred that the expedition to the Eastern Yi was still carried out in the west of Jiao Dong peninsula and did not go deep into its hinterland. In the study of related problems part, the ages of the artifacts are firstly divided according to the shapes, patterns, inscriptions and contents of the inscriptions.lv ding,Cheng fang ding,Qin gui,Gang Jie zun,Gang Jie you,Lu Hou zun,Shi Wei ding and Shi Wei gui should be the bronze vessels of the Emperor Cheng;Zhi ding was the bronze vessel of the Emperor Kang;Hui ding was the bronze vessel of the Emperor Zhao;Bao Yuan gui,Xiao Chen Lai gui and Ban gui was the bronze vessel of the Emperor Mu;According to the toponym in the bronze inscriptions and the expedition route during the Late Shang dynasty,we can infer the route of the expedition to the Eastern Yi during the reign of the Emperor Cheng and the Emperor Mu roughly.the expedition to the Eastern Yi during the reign of the Emperor Cheng were carried out in the order of suppressing the rebellion of San Jian, taking Feng Guo and Bo Gu,conquering Yan and Qian.At this time, the scope of the Eastern Yi was basically delineated in the east of Qu Fu.The first part of the route of the expedition to the Eastern Yi during the reign the Emperor Mu was similar to the route during the reign the Emperor Cheng. Then the troop marched along the River Ji.The destination of the expedition has reached the coast of Qi.It can be roughly speculated that the scope of the Eastern Yi had narrowed to a corner of the Shandong peninsula.
