How Does Stress Perception Influence Nostalgia:The Moderating Of Self-efficacy And The Regulatory Focus

Research has explored the relationship between stress and nostalgia,but is it possible in all cases that stress causes nostalgia,and what factors regulate the relationship between stress and nostalgia,i.e.what are the factors that influence the relations between stress and nostalgia? This question has not been explained clearly.Based on the theory of resource conservation,this study focuses on the relationship between stress perception and nostalgic tendency by introducing two variables,that is,general self-efficacy and adjustment orientation to discuss how the general self-efficacy and adjustment orientation affect the relationship between stress perception and nostalgic tendency.According to the theory of resource conservation,an individual has the ability to acquire,maintain and construct resources.The use of these resources by an individual can act as a buffer against the results caused by stress.For example,when an individual perceives stress,he or she will have a nostalgic tendency to acquire or construct resources to increase or decrease the degree of nostalgia.In this study,Perceived Stress Scale,Nostalgic localization scale,General Self Efficacy Scale and Regulatory Focus Questionnaire were used to test 210 undergraduate and graduate students in Jilin University and Binzhou Medical University.The data are analyzed by SPSS and Bootstrap.Through data analysis,finally reach conclusions as follow:1.The stress perception of college students has a positive influence on nostalgia,that is,the higher the stress perception of college students,the stronger the nostalgia proneness.2.Self efficacy plays a negative role in moderation between stress perception and nostalgia proneness,that is,under the same stress,the higher the self-efficacy,the lower the nostalgia proneness.3.Prevention pride plays a positive role of regulation between stress perception and nostalgia proneness.Promotion pride does not have regulation between stress perception and nostalgia proneness.The significance of this study is to add general self-efficacy and adjust orientation as two regulatory variables,This paper focus on the influencing factors between stress perception and nostalgic tendency,which is a supplement of previous researches,and enriches relative studies.The practical significance of this research is that through the study of nostalgia,we can use nostalgic method to relieve the psychological pressure of college students,help them to go through college life smoothly and cultivate healthy personality.
