The study explored the effects of parental control and emotional regulation on the prosocial behavior of senior high school students.342 students from two high schools in Liaoning Province were surveyed using the Parental Control Questionnaire, the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire and the Prosocial Behavior Scale for Adolescent.Data were analyzed using SPSS 19.0 software.Descriptive statistical analysis, independent sample T tests,one-way ANOVA,correlation analysis, and regression analysis were performed on the prepared data. Results indicated that,1.The overall level of prosocial behavior of high school students is high;compared to psychological control, parents are more likely to adopt behavioral control over high school students;relative to the expressive suppression, high school students are more likely to use cognitive reappraisal methods for emotional regulation.2.The level of prosocial behavior of high school students differs in demographic variables. The level of prosocial behavior of ordinary high school students is higher than that of students in vocational technology high schools. The overall level of prosocial behavior of high school students at the place of city are higher than those in rural areas.High school students who are only children have more prosocial behavior than those who are not only children. From the grade level perspective,LSD post factor analysis found that the highest levels of prosocial behavior were in the second grade students, followed by the first grade students, and finally the third grade students. From the perspective of parental education backgrounds, the higher the level of parental education, the more the prosocial behavior of their children.3.The parental control methods of high school students differs in demographic variables.Compared to girls, parents use more psychological control over boys;parents of vocational high school students use more psychological control, and parents of ordinary high school students use more behavioral control.Parents of high school students in the urban areas are more likely to use behavior control.Parents of non-onlychild high school students are more likely to adopt psychological control, parents of only-child high school students are more likely to adopt behavioral control. From a grade level perspective,LSD post factor analysis found that for students in the first grade, parents will use more behavioral control, followed by students in the second grade, and finally in the third grade. From the perspective of parental education, the higher the fathers' education level, the more likely they are to use behavioral control.4.The high school students' emotional regulation differs in demographic variables.Boys use cognitive reappraisal emotion regulation strategies to regulate emotions more than girls, and they are also more inclined to express suppressed emotional regulation strategies. The only-child students are more inclined to use expressive suppression to regulate their emotions than students who are not only child. From the grade point of view,LSD post factor analysis found that students who prefer to use cognitive reappraisal to adjust their emotions are the first-year students, followed by the secondyear students, and finally the third-year students.5.Prosocial behaviors were significantly associated with psychological control and behavioral control.Among them, there is a significant negative correlation between psychological control and prosocial behavior. That is,the higher the degree of parental psychological control over high school students, the lower the level of prosocial behavior of high school students;and there is a significant positive correlation between behavioral control and prosocial behavior. That is,the more parents adopt behavioral control methods, the higher the level of prosocial behavior among high school students.6.There is a significant positive correlation between cognitive reappraisal and prosocial behavior, that is,individuals are more inclined to choose cognitive reappraisal in their emotional regulation, and the higher the level of prosocial behavior.7.There is a significant positive correlation between psychological control and express suppressed, that is,parents' education of high school students is more inclined to adopt psychological control methods, individuals tend to use express suppressed in their emotional regulation.8.There is a significant positive correlation not only between cognitive reappraisal and behavioral control, but also between express suppressed and behavioral control. That is,parents adopt more behavioral control in the education of high school students, which will make high school students more inclined to choose the cognitive reappraisal in their emotional regulation. But some behavioral control methods also make individuals more inclined to choose the express suppressed in their emotional regulation.9.The cognitive reappraisal has a partial mediating effect between parental behavioral control and prosocial behavior.
