Prosocial behaviors refer to behaviors that individuals make to benefit others or society, such as cooperation, sharing, and helping others, which can all be classified as prosocial behaviors.Prosocial behaviors are common social behaviors in our daily life, and they are of great significance for maintaining social harmony. In the study of prosocial behaviors,it was found that emotion regulation is of great significance.Emotion regulation is divided into conscious emotion regulation and automatic emotion regulation. In the studies of the relationship between conscious emotion regulation and prosocial behaviors,it was found that the ability of emotion regulation could positively predict prosocial behavior. However, there was currently little on the impact of automatic emotion regulation on prosocial behavior and its psychological mechanism. This study will increase the experimental evidence in this field, which will help to explore the relationship between emotion regulation and prosocial behavior, and reveal prosocial behavior psychological mechanism. The core question of this research is the influence of automatic emotion regulation on prosocial behavior and whether attentional bias plays a role in it.Experiment 1 explored the preference of Chinese college students' emotional regulation tendency(emotion suppression, emotion expression). In this experiment, the Stroop paradigm was used to match emotion regulation words with red and green colors. The results of the experiment found that the participants have an attentional bias towards emotion.Experiment 2 studied the influence of automatic emotion regulation tendency on the attentional bias of prosocial behavior words. This experiment used the method of implicit priming to present emotion regulation priming words below the threshold, and then used the point detection paradigm to study the priming effect on prosocial behavior words. The results of the experiment showed that none of the subjects were aware of the existence of emotion regulation words, and the experiment successfully activated automatic emotion regulation. In the subjects' response time and the calculated attentional bias score, the experiment found that there was an interactive effect between the priming type and gender.Specifically, the emotional priming effect has no effect on male subjects.Male subjects had no difference between emotional suppression, emotional expression, and neutral conditions;for female subjects, under emotional expression and emotional suppression conditions, the attentional bias score was equal above the neutral condition.Experiment 3 continued to explore the influence of automatic emotion regulation tendency on donation behaviors on the basis of experiment 2.In the role of automatic emotion regulation, the experiment found that emotional expression increased the level of donation of male subjects to strangers;increased the level of donation of female subjects to friends, which verified the influence of male and female group characteristics in automatic emotional regulation on prosocial behavior.Female groups are characterized by small scale and deep feelings, women devote more sympathy and help to internal groups, while male groups are characterized by large scale, involving a wider range of people, and men are more tolerant of different values, and more friendly to strangers. In the results of Experiment 3,the amount of donations made by subjects to friends was significantly higher than that of strangers. This finding confirmed the theory of reciprocal rules of prosocial behavior, that is,people make prosocial behaviors to help themselves when they need help.Compared with strangers, helping neighbors and friends is more likely to be rewarded.People are more inclined to help friends and neighbors than strangers. The results found that implicitly initiated emotional expression can facilitate a person's donating behavior. This suggests that for individuals, effective emotion expression is of great significance in facilitating behaviors such as cooperation, sharing, and helping people.
