In the process of learning a foreign language is crucial not only to master pronunciation,grammar,vocabulary,but also it is of great importance to understand cultural characteristics of the target language country,to discover how the nation is observing the world,what its value system is like.You would also have to note how they see the world from a linguistic point of view and how they express everything they have heard or seen.This is exactly how the proverbs of a nation have been formed throughout centuries.Since the structure of the proverbs is relatively fixed,the semantic and pragmatic changes are quite small,so a lot of ethnic cultural aspects can be shown through the proverbs.The following thesis is mainly focused on frequently used proverbs and rhetoric techniques used.Guiding literature that was used as a tool source during writing this thesis is represented by ? Proverbs classification dictionary ?(? Fenlei yanyu cidian ?)written by Wen Duanzheng and??????????? ??????? ???????'?,???????? ? ???? ?????,???????? ?.?.????????? ?? ?????,????? ?.?????.This paperwork consists of four parts.The first chapter is introduction.It introduces related researches of Chinese and Ukrainian common proverbs and rhetoric figures used in them,the significance,purpose,set definitions and research methods of this paperwork.The second chapter introduces the five most common rhetoric figures used in corresponding Chinese and Ukrainian proverbs: metaphor,metonymy,comparison,antithesis,anadiplosis and repetition.It is the first Chinese-Ukrainian common proverbs dictionary,the main feature is that it classifies Chinese proverbs due to the main rhetoric devices used in them and provides with corresponding Ukrainian proverbs and rhetoric devices used in them as well.According to the peculiarities of rhetorical figures Chinese-Ukrainian proverbs are divided into three parts in the fourth chapter.In the same chapter these three types of proverbs are used in proverbs teaching strategy which is divided into three stages.The third chapter presents similarities and differences of Chinese-Ukraininan linguistic world picture based on the analysis of main rhetorical devices used in the proverbs.For example,the system of moral concepts,grammatical and esthetic proverbial style,numerical,animal and religious cultural differences.The fourth chapter introduces Chinese-Ukrainian proverbial teaching strategy.As the students pass through different proverbial stages of teaching strategy,they will be able to improve their Chinese communicative competence(the first stage),will acquire abilities to compare different culturally-marked words and phrases,especially the rhetoric figures used in the proverbs(the second stage),will improve their linguistic ability to distinguish the authentic Chinese proverbs and enrich their Chinese cultural knowledge(the third stage).
