Hygiene is related to the national economy and the people's livelihood.Its budding to development reflects a complex social culture and public mentality in a time of great change.It's an important content of the transition from traditional towns to modern cities,and also a microcosm of the state's policy.In modern times,the regime of China changed frequently,which caused more troubles to the road of the hygiene exploration which is falling-behind at the beginning.Since the opening of Hankou,hygiene care has been deeply imprinted in the process of urban development and has been implemented without interruption.The hygiene construction of Wuhan under different periods has shown different characteristics.It has experienced a process from scratch and from simple to complex,and gradually established an effective administrative system from top to bottom.When hygiene is used as a profitable interest,what role does foreigners play here?How does our people compete with them?In regards to hygiene issues,people changed their attitudes from rejection to acceptance and then to promotion.How to complete the transforming from the original form as a social welfare to the ultimate goal of personal commitment?These are propositions worth exploring.Although the hygiene of Hankou was advocated by outsiders,it has been in line with the city's internal demands and the trend of the times.Due to its special status in the history of the Republic of China,local hygiene conditions of Hankou have been receiving double attention from the central and local governments.In a complex historical context,the interweaving and collaboration of state and non-governmental forces together to promote the development of Hankou'hygiene.
