Nowadays,as China plays an increasingly important role on the international stage, more and more publications related to China's history and culture have sprung up,introducing China's political and economic strategies. In the field of non-literary translation, political essay translation is a unique branch for the use of political language. The study on E-C translation of political essays can enrich techniques of political translation and contribute to China's political development.Since the "One Belt and One Road" strategy was proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013,China has drawn extensive attention from countries all around the world and has signed agreements on cooperation in building the "One Belt and One Road" with more than 30 countries along the route. While Central Asia is a key region for the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt of China,it is also an important region for India's dream of becoming a great power, which, therefore, leads to competition in politics, economy, energy and culture between China and India in Central Asia.So it is important to know the attitude and perspective of India on OBOR initiative for promoting the smooth progress of the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt in Central Asia. The thesis is a report on the English-Chinese translation of part of China's One Belt One Road:Initiative:Challenges and Prospects edited by Bal Krishan Sharma and Nivedita Das Kundu. The excerpts are the introduction and the second section written by Indian scholars, illustrating their understanding of the OBOR initiative. This report firstly describes the translation task and then the pre-translation preparation, translation process, and post-translation review. It explains the difficulties encountered in translating proper nouns, political terms, political euphemisms, and subtitles,as well as translation method such as transliteration, literal translation, liberal translation and back-translation used in translating them.On the basis of that, the author has summarized the linguistic features and translation patterns of English and Chinese political essays.Since political essays are rigorous, logical, and usually represent the author's views on a political events, the translation work must be treated seriously, thus making the translation faithful to the ideas expressed in the original text on the basis of accuracy. This thesis focuses on the problems and solutions of the translation of English political essays written by foreign scholars aboutChina's strategic policy-making,providing practical references for the correct translation of such materials as well as some insight into foreign scholars' opinions on our strategic decisions.
