| The translation materials in this translation practice report are selected from chapters 2 and 5 of populism and the crisis of democracy III: immigration,gender and religion.The book analyzes the essence of populism and the current crisis faced by western democracy.At the same time,it also discusses the current complex and changeable international relations in order to provide new ideas for solving global problems.The author of this text has a clear political position and rich attitude resources.How to make the target readers and the original readers get the same reading experience and resonate with the author is a big problem in translation.Therefore,this translation practice report focuses on the translation of manifesting the author’s political position.In this political text,the author’s political attitude is not direct,but rather expressed by a large number of neutral words,words with obvious positive and negative meanings,and inserted elements.This report is based on the content of the implied author’s position,which is divided into two parts: the treatment of emotional color and the treatment of inserted elements.In the process of translation,we should follow the domestication strategy,use literal translation and free translation methods,and combine with translation techniques such as adding translation and splitting translation to manifest the author’s political position in the original text.In this translation practice report,combined with specific cases and relevant theoretical knowledge,this paper makes an in-depth analysis of the translation problems of manifesting the author’s political position,studies the translation difficulties and prominent problems,and summarizes the corresponding translation methods,hoping to provide some reference for the translation of position problems in related fields. |
