From the background of research,the academic research on “urban film” has often been selected for many years,such as “Beijing”,“Shanghai”,“Hong Kong”,“Taipei” and so on.The Hong Kong film works and the dynamic city culture that highlight the oriental legend have world influence in Hong Kong.Especially since the return of Hong Kong to the 20 th anniversary,the film culture of the city in “Hong Kong” has become the focus of the academic research again.Hong Kong film director through city film to Hong Kong to record time,space display,human expression,become the epitome of Hong Kong modernization development and urban cultural changes.Through the integration of various types of elements,combined with urban space for narrative,the use of image language to express the visual thinking,constructing city culture with the creative auteurism method,and eventually lead to the audience of the city image,urban life,and urban culture into the understanding,thinking and imagination.As a member of the new city director of Hong Kong,Pang Ho-cheung's film works have strong harbor taste,changeable subject matter and personality expression way,which embodies the adherence and remolding of the city's culture and local characteristic space in Hong Kong.Therefore,this study selects director Pang Ho-cheung as the research object,taking the new wave of Hong Kong film as the time definition and research background,taking “the new city film” as the research perspective,taking the text of Pang Ho-cheung film as the basis,combining the text analysis,case study and questionnaire survey,using the concept of system theory from the whole.In accordance with the idea of “history”,“theory” and “comment”,the research subject is divided into four parts: the first part from the new wave to the new city film,tracing back to the background of the film industry in Pang Ho-cheung's film industry,the theory of film thought,the city image of new city films and the combing of the film achievements;the second part is the new city film's characteristics and composition in the context of urban film theory,the new city films are discussed in the great environment of urban film theory.The new city films,as a wide type concept,should be summarized and proposed,which should have the characteristics of “ideal”,“illusory” and “post modern” city and the elements of new culture and new space.The third and the four parts are the testimonyand evaluation of the new city films.From the two aspects of the content and form of Pang Ho-cheung's film text,we focus on “the Hong Kong style humanistic theme based on globalization and geochemistry compresence ”,“the fusion of the author's adherence to the type of remolding”,“the value of the figures from redemption to growth” and “the living space of my view of the city”,“the visual space of the object,scene,the music narrative ”,“psychological space from regular records to vivid metaphors”,respectively,testified the features and elements of the new city film;The fifith part is combined with the feedback from the young group,and testified the new city film of Pang Ho-cheung.Finally,it sums up the particularity of Pang Ho-cheung's films,and combines the director's values and creative views to answer questions.This paper gives an objective consideration and inspiration for further theoretical research of Pang Ho-cheung,a new city film director in Hong Kong under the new wave background.
