A Project Report On The Interpretation Of Dubai DTCM's(Department Of Tourism And Commerce Marketing) Investigation To Tourist Attractions In Nanjing

In recent years,followed by the fast development of national economy,China's tourism industry flourished.More and more tourists prefer to travel outbound.As a result,tourism interpretation was on the rise in response to overcome the language barrier.The reporter served as a tourism interpreter in Dubai DTCM's 10-day investigation to tourist attractions in Nanjing.In this project,the reporter encountered great difficulties of interpretation such as lack of professional knowledge of historical and cultural background,inappropriate interpretation of terminology,unspecified role identification and illogical and fragmented interpretation,which seriously affected listeners'understanding and caused adverse consequences.To solve these problems,the reporter initiated some solutions:first,establishing a corpus containing related terms;second,specifying interpreter's role in the work;third,sorting out speaker's logic before interpretation.The reporter adjusted strategies timely when problems occurred in the early stage.By choosing the correct method,she improved her performance eminently later.This report explores many aspects of tourism interpretation on the basis of authentic materials,and provides new thinking for MTI students and interpreting workers.
